Antoni Fletcher-Goldspink

A good friend of SNS Online’s, Antoni Fletcher-Goldspink (also known under acting name Anthony Townsend), has sadly passed away aged 50. Antoni was diagnosed with terminal cancer on 25 June 2021. They were the voice behind numerous autobiography extracts from some of our biggest shows – Armistead Maupin, Jonny Benjamin MBE and Lord Michael Cashman CBE – and also readings from Bearmouth.

As an actor, voice artist, interviewer and event host, their work with Big Finish Productions included Doctor Who and Blake’s 7 ranges, 368 Theatre Company in live performances, as well as two recent podcast series “The Pogley Wood Murders” and “Moira Moments”.

Previously back in the 1990s they were a regular contributor to Doctor Who Magazine, and previous to that co-starred in the last film Jon Pertwee was involved with, an independent Doctor Who drama called Devious.

Antoni was active in the charity sector, having been a dedicated campaigner for equal rights for over 30 years, and in the last 15 dedicating their creative talents in roles to raising untold amounts for Crusaid, The National AIDS Trust, Alzheimer’s Society & most recently Cancer Research UK. They had been a trustee and spokesperson for anti-hate crime group 17-24-30, the National AIDS Trust and Stonewall.

Most recently they were part of the organising team of the postponed G’Day of the Doctor event, which even though hasn’t gone ahead, has raised thousands of GB pounds for relief organisations for the Australian Bush fire disaster.

Antoni was such an indomitable life force and beacon of positivity who touched so many people’s lives over the years, and will be greatly missed. Let’s hope their adventure is just beginning somewhere out there in the vast Universe.

RIP Antoni Fletcher-Goldspink x
